Summer Festivals In Europe At Extraordinary Settings

This is the first year of a new festival experience on the Otok Obonjan Island in the turquoise waters of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, better known locally as the “island of youth.”

Until last year when it was leased for 45 years by Sibenik Riviera, (a partnership between Sound Channel, a British dance music festivals promoter, and various businesses in Croatia), the island had sat untouched for years. Close to the city of Sibenik, known as The City Of Festivals, Otok Obonjan has been transformed into a carbon neutral, envrionmentally friendly “idyllic party destination” that includes musicians, artists, philosophers and chefs through the entire summer.

“A one-stop destination for art and music, wellness, sustainable living, amazing food, drinks and fun,” the organizers promise. The music ranges from hip hop and funk ‘n’ soul to electronica and techno, while the rest of the program includes talks and workshops covering ecology, astrology and free-diving and art exhibits. “Food will pay tribute to traditional Croatian cuisine, with ingredients purchased from local suppliers, including lots of fresh seafood and organic vegetables.” A wellbeing center, deep in the island’s woods, offers yoga, healing and meditation.
